Astronergy Solar Receives Photovoltaic System Projects from China

The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China released its list of "Golden Sun Demonstration Projects" in December, which includes 222 on-grid photovoltaic projects, 18 off-grid photovoltaic systemh projects and 35 large photovoltaic plants. Astronergy Solar has been awarded six of these projects, with a combined capacity of 7.86 MW.

Los Alamos National Lab Joins Biomagnetics Diagnostics for Optical Biosensor Development

Los Alamos National Laboratory has executed an agreement with Biomagnetics Diagnostics Corporation (BMGP) for the further development of a diagnostic tool known as an optical biosensor. Los Alamos, whose staff developed the prototype bench-top and hand-held biosensors for the detection of human and animal pathogens, has provided Biomagnetics with a nonexclusive, field-of-use patent license agreement to expand the Laboratory’s Triggered Optical Biosensor and Integrated Optical Biosensor System (IOBS) technology.

Kyocera Assigned to Offer Solar Modules for Ohgishima Solar Power Plant, Japan

Kyocera Corporation (NYSE:KYO)(TOKYO:6971) today announced that it will provide approximately 13 megawatts (MW) of solar modules for the Ohgishima Solar Power Plant "Mega Solar System," planned by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) with construction by Hitachi, Ltd. Scheduled for completion in 2011, the installation will be one of the largest in Japan, providing electricity for approximately 3,800 homes and off-setting about 5,800 tons of CO2 emissions each year. To promote land-use efficiency, the Kyocera solar modules, covering about 57 acres, will be installed on an artificial island just outside of Tokyo Bay.
