MDA US Systems to Build Camera Focus Mechanisms for NASA-JPL Mars 2020 Rover Instrument

Space Systems Loral (SSL), a leading provider of commercial satellites, today announced that MDA US Systems, a division of MDA managed by SSL, will design and build the camera focus mechanisms for the NASA-JPL Mars 2020 Rover instrument, named SHERLOC, which will be used to research the surface of Mars and to support the selection of return samples. EVT's EyeVision Software Now Supports Time-of-Flight Camera from Basler

The image processing software EyeVision by EVT now also supports the Time-of-Flight camera from Basler. The 3D camera works based on the Time-of-Flight principle. The integrated lighting of the camera sends infrared impulses. The sensor then measures the time, which the light takes to get reflected back by the object.

Scientists Use Micro-Computed Tomography Scans to Study Bioerosion of Coral Reefs

Corals, the primary reef builders on coral reefs, are often the star player in research studies addressing the impacts of climate change on coral reefs because they are the foundation of coral reef ecosystems. However, the breakdown of coral reefs from borers (such as bivalves, sponges, and marine worms) and grazers (such as parrotfish and urchins) -- called bioerosion -- and growth from encrusting algae and invertebrates (for example, oysters and barnacles) - called secondary accretion -- are critical processes for reef sustainability.
