Solar3D has successfully developed an initial prototype of its three-dimensional (3D) solar cell with the help of Panasonic equipment. The company used its economical fabrication process to accurately make 3D light capturing and converting nanostructures over a silicon wafer.

ImagineOptix and North Carolina State University researchers have jointly developed a new technology, though which unpolarized light can be transformed into polarized light. This will promote energy efficiency by two-fold to liquid crystal (LC) technology-based projectors. Olympus America and Germany-based Carl Zeiss Microscopy have entered into a nonexclusive global licensing agreement through which Zeiss can have access to a wide range of patent portfolio under Olympus for virtual microscopy and digital pathology. Terms and conditions of the agreement have not been disclosed.
