New High-Resolution TI DLP Chipsets for 3D Printing, 3D Machine Vision Applications

Texas Instruments (TI) today announced the availability of two new high-resolution DLP® chipsets for 3D printing, 3D machine vision and lithography applications. The new chipsets, consisting of the DLP9000 and DLP6500 digital micromirror devices (DMDs) and each programmable by the DLPC900 controller, offer developers higher resolution imaging, extended wavelength support and faster pattern rates compared to previous devices.

Very Large Telescope Interferometer Probes Exozodiacal Light

Using the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI) in near-infrared light, the team of astronomers observed 92 nearby stars to probe exozodiacal light from hot dust close to their habitable zones and combined the new data with earlier observations. Bright exozodiacal light, created by the glowing grains of hot exozodiacal dust, or the reflection of starlight off these grains, was observed around nine of the targeted stars.

A novel optical approach brings brightness and sharpness together for the first time on screens of any curvature – and additionally allows about 10,000-times faster projection rates.
