Leading semiconductor test equipment supplier Advantest Corporation will promote its new TAS7500 THz spectroscopy and imaging systems at the AAPS annual meeting.
In San Diego, from November 3-5, 2014, scientists from pharmaceutics and biopharmaceutics, as well as from complimentary disciplines involved in the discovery, development, and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, will attend the annual meeting and expo of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. At the event, Advantest will demonstrate the capabilities of its rapid, non-destructive spectroscopy/imaging systems for pharmaceutical development and quality control, as well as its TAS7500TS platform with in-line, at-line, on-line, and off-line capabilities for R&D, quality, manufacturing and process analytical technology (PAT).
Advantest’s configurable and compact TAS7500 THz Spectroscopy/Imaging Systems use proprietary terahertz wave technology to non-destructively acquire characteristic spectra based on crystalline structure and 3D images yielding tablet coating thickness and uniformity and detection of cracks and voids in the tablet core. The terahertz spectroscopy is used to measure solid phase transitions and crystalline/amorphous composition while the terahertz imaging provides information on the strength properties of coatings and multilayer interfaces in tablets. The TAS7500 system offers low operating cost and higher efficiency in method development, lab research and product manufacturing.
At AAPS, Advantest’s scientist, David Heaps will present a paper titled, “Terahertz Imaging of Roller Compaction Ribbon Density,” which describes why Terahertz (THz) imaging is a powerful process tool for granulated tablet development and analysis.
