TELKOM Chooses Alcatel-Lucent's CBT Solution for Optical Network Converging

PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (TELKOM) has selected Alcatel-Lucent to transform its backbone network. The CBT (Converged Backbone Transformation) solution of Alcatel-Lucent will offer TELKOM with various capabilities through converging of optical and IP networks. Such capabilities include offering high efficiency, minimizing the costs, simplifying the network, and handling increasing data traffic.

The CBT solution also helps TELKOM to handle issues of power consumption and operations due to traffic growth. In addition, the Converged Backbone Transformation solution simplifies the networking equipment management. This solution is based on the optical and IP/MPLS network solutions, which are already offered to TELKOM by Alcatel-Lucent.

TELKOM will be supplied with Alcatel-Lucent’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS), which is powered with the GMPLS control plane and Wavelength Tracker features. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent will provide its Service Router IP/MPLS platform featuring Tuneable Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) interfaces, to offer a reliable and manageable solution. Alcatel-Lucent will also offer training and technical supervision on its solution to TELKOM.
