360networks to Deploy Alcatel-Lucent’s CBT Solution to Offer Enhanced Ethernet Services

360networks, a provider of VoIP, IP, and private line transport services, announced that it has chosen the Converged Backbone Transformation (CBT) system of Alcatel-Lucent, to provide enhanced IP-based Ethernet services. The CBT solution is a unique combination of optical and IP technologies, and has the potential to offer a maximum of 100G speeds.

The CBT solution is a part of the Alcatel-Lucent’s High Leverage Network. It allows 360networks to install a 100G network for supporting bandwidth-hungry applications and for handling traffic intelligently. CBT is an integrated IP/Optical system that spans the management plane, the control plane, and the data plane. It decreases the operational complexity present in core networks, and reduces transportation expenses.

360networks will deploy the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router featuring 100G Ethernet interfaces at IP edge. The company will also deploy Alcatel-Lucent’s 1830 Photonic Service Switch that features coherent technology capable of 100G. This combination facilitates versatile overall network scaling from the existing 40G and 10G to 100G network. The combination will also simplify operations, decrease consumption of power, and enhance the overall cost of ownership.
