Sigma Design’s CG3310M and CG3210M HPNA Fast Ethernet-Over-Coax (Fast EoC) chipset has been roped in by ISO certified Alliance Broadband Services for its IP-based services. Alliance Broadband Services is an Internet Service Provider based in Eastern India, which caters to both corporate and residential customers.
The Director of Alliance Broadband Services, Mr. Abhijit Modak, said that they planned to use Sigma Design’s Fast EoC Technology as it was economical, and also allowed them to effectively deliver Voice-over-Internet Protocol, Video-on-Demand and broadband services to their customers over their existing last-mile coaxial infrastructure.
The Vice President and General Manager of Home Connectivity Group of Sigma Designs, Gabi Hilevitz stated that HPNA Fast Ethernet-Over-Coax Technology offered by Sigma Designs enables Internet service providers and cable operators in India to cut down expenses on retrofitting cables, as IP and TV services can be efficiently delivered over the coaxial infrastructure that already exists. He also expressed that this Fast EoC Technology is mutually beneficial for a company like Alliance Broadband Services in terms of offering quick and efficient IP-based services to their clients.
Sigma Designs is known to provide System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for home entertainment and last-mile access services. The company’s services have been used by around 30 service providers, and till date around 35 million chips have been sold. The company develops semiconductor technologies that are deployed in advanced IPTV set-top boxes, connected media players, DTV, home control systems and residential gateways across the globe.
