CEA-Leti and PLAT4M Partners Build Three Silicon Photonics Platforms

CEA-Leti and its partners in the European FP7 project PLAT4M today announced they have built three silicon photonics platforms. The four-year project, which launched in 2013, aims at building a European-based supply chain in silicon photonics and speeding industrialization of the technology. PLAT4M, which is funded by a European Commission grant of 10.2 million euros, includes 15 leading European R&D institutes and CMOS companies, key industrial and research organizations in design and packaging, as well as end users in different application fields, to build the complete supply chain.

Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its parent company, Canon Inc., is celebrating the company surpassing a new camera-manufacturing milestone - the production of its 80-millionth film and digital EOS-series interchangeable-lens camera - on November 10, 2015. The 80-millionth camera produced was a Canon EOS 5DS R which holds the world’s highest pixel count in its class.

Nanotech and HUECK FOLIEN Enter MOU for Colour Shifting Security Feature in Optical Thin Film

Nanotech Security Corp., and HUECK FOLIEN GmbH of Baumgartenberg, Austria today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding which contemplates an operational agreement to collaborate in the production of a colour shifting security feature in optical thin film. The OTF product is anticipated to initially be used in banknotes as threads and then expand into other markets in the future.
