Using laser light to stir an ultracold gas of atoms, researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Joint Quantum Institute (NIST/University of Maryland) have demonstrated the first "persistent" current in an ultracold atomic gas - a frictionless flow of particles.

UV Laser for Drilling and Micromachining Applications

The new AVIA 355-7 from Coherent, Inc. is a Q-switched, frequency-tripled, solid-state laser delivering over 7 Watts of average power at 355 nm, in a package designed to maximize reliability for a minimum cost of ownership. The highest average power is achieved at repetition rates near 60 kHz, but the laser can be operated at pulse rates as high as 100 kHz, enabling very high throughput micromachining processes.

Competitive Technologies Signs Joined Agreement for Solar Panel Technology

Competitive Technologies, Inc. and Articulated Technologies, LLC today announced that they have signed an agreement for CTT to license and commercialize Articulated's patented organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology for adaptation to solar power.
