NSF Honors Joyner's Research on Near Infrared Spectroscopy

Promising research on superconducting materials, near infra-red spectroscopy, and nanotechnology has earned three faculty at Tufts University's School of Engineering early career awards from the National Science Foundation and U.S. Department of Energy. The awards are among the most prestigious honors given by the U.S. government to outstanding scientists and engineers at the early stages of their careers, when many do their most formative work.

Inphi's New 4336TA Transimpedance Amplifier Delivers Excellent Optical Overload Performance

Inphi Corporation, a high-speed analog semiconductor company, today introduced its 4336TA Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) for next-generation Small Form-Factor 40 Gbps Very Short Reach (VSR) transponder modules. The new 4336TA is a high-gain TIA that enables transponders to achieve high-sensitivity and high-overload performance over a wide range of temperatures and supply voltages. As a result, Inphi helps its customers simplify the design, production and installation of 40 Gbps serial components and equipment. The new 4336TA component will be shown at OFC/NFOEC 2010 in San Diego, March 23-25. Engineering samples of the 4336TA are available immediately.

SiFotonics Introduces CMOS-Based Integrated 2.5Gb/s Optical Receiver

SiFotonics™ Technologies Co., Ltd., a leading supplier of optical communications components based on the Silicon Photonics technology platform, announced on Monday March 22, 2010 that the TP1001, an integrated receiver for 2.5Gb/s optical communication applications is available for volume production. The TP1001 receiver consists of a strained Germanium detector monolithically integrated with a trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) fabricated on an 8-inch Silicon wafer. The fabrication was successfully conducted at two of the leading global semiconductor foundries.
