NEC Reveals New Single Board Computer Options for Digital Signage Applications

NEC Display Solutions of America has collaborated with Technovare Systems and unveiled three new single board computer options that can be integrated into few of NEC’s large-format displays. In addition, the company also announced an external PC option. These four accessories are suitable for use in airports, retail centers, quick-service restaurants, healthcare, and lobbies.

The three single board computer options (NET-SBC-01, NET-SBC-02, and NET-SBC-03) can be seamlessly combined with any NEC S, P or X Series display that possesses a built-in expansion slot. The expansion slot offers a professional look and provides great flexibility to the users.

The new modules feature a 1.6GHz Dual Core Atom CPU with 2GB DDR2 RAM, and Nvidia 9400 graphic processing unit. The NET-SBC-01 and NET-SBC-03 models incorporate a Windows XP Pro OS (operating system). Whereas the NET-SBC-02 does not feature any OS, hence, allows users to install an OS of their choice. The NET-SBC-02 is apt for use in large digital signage such as applications in corporate, where requirements are specific to each unit.

For customers who require more hard drive space, WIFI, and improved connectivity such as 6 USB 2.0 ports, the company offers the TNETPC-ION external PC option that can also operate under Windows XP Pro OS.

The company has displayed the new single board computer products at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas. Luke Bruschuk, NEC Display Solutions’ product manager, stated that the displays have been developed having the end-user in mind. He added that they expect to increase the opportunities with these new additions to their portfolio.
