During Computex 2010, multimedia software provider ArcSoft, Inc. plans to demonstrate its latest Blu-ray SimHD technology on grouped, multiple displays. ArcSoft’s SimHD technology, which enables upscaling from DVD to HD, can now upscale from Blu-ray to super resolution, offering users a near HD-quality viewing experience.
Blu-ray SimHD will be run on multi-displays controlled by AMD’s ATI Eyefinity technology, which allows simultaneous use of six displays as a single, large display. Besides, ArcSoft will also show other products optimized by using UVD technologies and ATI stream technology. Among these products are SimHD Plug-in for TotalMedia Theatre 3 Platinum.
ArcSoft vice president George Tang said that his company has been collaborating with AMD for nearly two years. He added that AMD’s UVD and graphics acceleration are a result of this close collaboration. Tang hopes that in the near future, ArcSoft products will be optimized for AMD’s Fusion platforms as well.
Manju Hedge, corporate vice president of AMD Fusion Experience Program, pointed out that computer users now expect a rich viewing experience. Upscaling standard-definition movies so as to provide a near HD-quality experience is made possible by ArcSoft’s TotalMedia Theatre 3 and Plug-in. However, this process requires great amounts of compute power. Hedge believes that TotalMedia Theater 3, when used in conjunction with AMD’s GPU compute technology, will offer immersive experience to computer users.
