Colo5 Announces Activation of Private Fiber Optic Ring in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Florida-based data center collocation and broadband services provider, Colo5, announced that it has activated a private, customized fiber optic ring across the metro.

The OC-192 fiber optic connection is a sturdy network transmission line suitable for clients who look for economic, self-healing and redundant local access.

The dedicated fiber optic ring bridges the data centers to Jacksonville’s telecom carrier hotels, enabling access to over 15 independent providers of telecom network. This setting will add more value to the customers of Colo5 by broadening access to a higher number of carriers with low pricing. The locations connected in Jacksonville include 421 West Church Street, 424 N. Pearl Street and 550 Water Street.

Doug Recker, CEO of Colo5, expressed his excitement about the activation of the ring. He said that this fiber optic ring makes the company stand out from the rest of the local data centers and added that the company expects more customers in Jacksonville to understand the benefits of the new fiber optic ring.
