Infinera has announced that it will present the outcome of the deployment of a submarine network, at the SubOptic 2010 conference.
The company’s Infinera Submarine Solution was utilized to significantly increase the capacity of the cable system of a submarine in South and Central America.
This submarine solution features an optical system, Infinera DTN, which is the first to use photonic integrated circuits (IC) extensively. The photonic ICs offer higher flexibility, speed, dependability and expandability to the network. The solution has been employed on submarine networks of 50,000 km and more. The company’s optical communication solution has been accommodated to provide more services to submarine networks with higher network efficiency.
Infinera will showcase its submarine solution at the SubOptic conference as well as the trade show to be held at the Pacifico Yokohama Conference Center in Japan, which will be conducted from May 11 to 14, 2010. The company’s representatives will illustrate the actual field application of this solution to a submarine at the SubOptic conference.
Steve Grubb of Infinera said that the submarine solution allows the network operators to offer new services and extend the life of their subsea infrastructure. Operators are also benefited by having a single optical system to link both the terrestrial network and the submarine at the landing station, he added..
