DivX, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIVX), a leading digital media company, today announced a new partnership with Sharp Corporation to enable high-quality DivX video on digital TVs.
Consumers who purchase the newly DivX Certified AQUOS LE820 TV line will be able to enjoy DivX HD 1080p videos in the DivX format using the TV's USB slot.
The LE820 series features Sharp's proprietary four primary color technology for more sparkling golds, Caribbean blues and sunflower yellows. The new AQUOS LEDs offer a stunning new contemporary design that pushes the envelope for flat-screen television artistry. At only 1.6-inches thin, the full-front panel glass extends to meet the slim border for a subtle edge that befits the elegance of a modern home theater.
Now available in Europe, the LE820 will enable consumers to easily playback DivX videos up to 1080p HD from the PC or the Internet through the USB slot. Typical HD video requires a considerable amount of digital storage space, but DivX HD video provides a superior media experience by maintaining the highest visual quality while significantly reducing the video file size. Using DivX technology, users can fit approximately two hours of high-quality DivX HD video on an 8GB USB thumb drive.
"Sharp is highly regarded for providing innovative and stylish TVs," said Kevin Hell, Chief Executive Officer, DivX, Inc. "We are excited to grow our relationship with them and take consumers' viewing experiences to a whole new level. As a key feature in Sharp's new line of LED LCD TVs, DivX technology offers consumers an easy way to play their high definition DivX videos from a USB thumb drive."
Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual high-quality users expect from DivX.
