2010-Grace Davison Discovery Sciences(TM), a product group of W. R. Grace & Co. (NYSE: GRA), is reaffirming its commitment to providing innovative solutions to customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors in Asia by presenting at one of the industry's premier events.
The company is spotlighting the REVELERIS(R) flash system, the next generation of flash purification system, at the Global Leaders Institute featured event on March 4-5 in Shanghai, China. Grace's keynote speaker will be Dr. Jeffrey McKown, Global Technology Director for Grace Davison Discovery Sciences, presenting "Accelerating Drug Discovery: A Lean Six Sigma Driven Solution."
The result of Grace's collective expertise in silica gel manufacturing and detection technology, the REVELERIS(R) flash chromatography system streamlines the purification of new chemical/biological entities, enabling pharmaceutical companies to bring important new drugs to market more quickly.
"We are delighted that Grace and the REVELERIS(R) system will be featured during Asia Pharma R&D Leaders 2010," commented Mr. Lip-Kian Tan, General Manager for Grace Davison Discovery Sciences Asia. "With a growing number of global pharmaceutical companies opening up innovation centers throughout China and Asia, we believe the REVELERIS(R) system will be increasingly recognized as an essential tool in enabling innovation as scientists search for the next generation of life saving drugs."
Using proprietary RevealX(TM) detection technology, the REVELERIS(R) system overcomes the limitation of traditional ultra-violet (UV) detection (which only detects chromophoric components, missing impurities or compounds of interest that cannot be found using traditional UV detection only). The system is equipped with REVELERIS(R) SRC(TM) cartridges that employ radio frequency identification (RFID) and have a higher pressure rating-to improve purification by maximizing system resolution, sample loading and recovery. By increasing sample loads on a given cartridge size and reducing run times, sample throughputs and yields increase, thus lowering overall purification costs.
The REVELERIS(R) system has received multiple awards since its launch in March 2009, including the 2009 R&D 100 Award from R&D Magazine and the IBO Bronze Award from International Business Outlook.
Grace's history in China goes back to the nineteenth century. More than 100 years ago, the company began trading with China through its steamboat business. In 1986, Grace became the first foreign-owned company licensed to operate in China. Today, China's rapid development plays a key role in the company's global growth strategy.
