SPI Lasers Doubles Manufacturing Floor Space to Handle Planned New Product Releases

SPI Lasers, a leading designer and manufacturer of fiber lasers, today announced that it was increasing investment in people, machinery and sales channel following significant growth in demand for its products. This combined with further new product releases planned in each quarter of 2010 has warranted a doubling of manufacturing floor space, recruiting across operational, engineering and sales functions and investing in sales and application development facilities.

In addition to doubling its manufacturing capacity capability, SPI is continuing to invest in the sales channel with a move to a new larger facility in the USA in Santa Clara which expands the applications development capability and improves customer meeting areas and office facilities. Further investments include improved stocking and product support facilities in Asia and the opening of a second state of the art application and customer suite in the UK.

At Photonics West, SPI Lasers will showcase new products including the redENERGY single moded pulsed laser, redENERGY 40W (20kW peak power) pulsed laser and an M2=4 Low moded 400W micro-welding laser, all of which are proving hugely popular since their initial launch announcement in June 09.

David Parker, CEO of SPI Lasers added "Despite the recent global economic downturn we have managed to increase our order intake and continue extensive product development plans. To meet these demands we have increased our staffing and facilities to achieve our ongoing commitments to our customers. SPI will have the ability and facilities to react flexibly to the demand we are seeing. SPI will be launching new products in each quarter of 2010 as it extends towards higher powers and uses its growing applications development experience to bring application dedicated laser solutions to the market”.
