Daktronics to Install Large Screen Video Displays for M+T Bank Stadium

Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) and the Maryland Stadium Authority announced today that the company will design, manufacture and install new large screen video displays for M&T Bank Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens. The multimillion dollar upgrade project includes two large end zone video displays, video processors, and the company’s new Show Control system.

“We are pleased to provide fans with an improved video system,” said John Morton III, Chairman of the Maryland Stadium Authority. “Although the boards are being replaced due to concerns about functionality, they also represent a significant upgrade and will result in dramatic energy savings. New technology eliminates the need for 54 tons of cooling required by the old system.”

“The Ravens’ goal is to provide the best home-game experience in football and our video boards are a significant element in our presentation,” said Dick Cass, President of the Ravens. “Adding the high resolution displays from Daktronics will be spectacular. We’re excited to see the difference on our screens, and we believe they will greatly enhance Ravens game day for our fans.”

Daktronics will be providing its popular HD-16 LED video technology in the stadium, retrofit into the existing end zone structures. Each display will measure approximately 24 feet high by 100 feet wide. HD-16 technology provides incredible wide angle viewing for better visibility for more fans, increased contrast, and superb image clarity with the ability to display 4.4 trillion shades of color. Recent professional sports installations of the Daktronics HD-16 technology include systems for the St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets, Kansas City Royals, Arizona Diamondbacks, the New Meadowlands Stadium, and Target Field, future home of the Minnesota Twins.

Included in the upgrade project are Daktronics video image processing technologies and the new Show Control system. The company’s video processing system is touted by experts as the best in the industry, processing and scaling live and recorded video signal to vivid digital imagery on large displays. The Show Control system is the one of the latest developments from Daktronics, providing a power combination of control software, data integration, and playback hardware that forms a single, comprehensive production solution. “We are proud to add the Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium and the Maryland Stadium Authority to our valued list of large screen LED video clients,” said Ross Yanco, Regional Manager of Daktronics Large Sports Venues division. “The venue is well known for its advanced design and technology. Football fans and other patrons will be thrilled with the clarity, color reproduction and data integration of the integrated display and control system.”
