Frontier Communications announced an additional investment in Hartford, Connecticut that will increase speeds and deploy additional fiber technology to businesses and homes in the north end of the city. Fiber-optic technology is the fastest and most reliable network to deliver vital broadband services.
“This announcement highlights our commitment to our customers, communities and shareholders to deliver game- changing technology. Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology is Frontier’s first commercial deployment in Connecticut. Our fiber network will enable businesses to expand their capabilities and competitiveness and enrich the lives of our residential customers. This is an exciting beginning for innovation in the Hartford region,” said Debra Zampano, Frontier’s Area General Manager for the region.
This expansion of fiber technology is part of Frontier’s aggressive plan to deploy the fastest available speeds to neighborhoods throughout the state; the company already provides the ultra-high speed technology in West Hartford, North Haven, New Haven and Stamford.
“Our latest effort is a continuation of Frontier’s fiber initiative and part of our commitment to network investments that provide our Connecticut customers with the fastest Internet speeds available, one neighborhood at a time,” said Paul Quick, Frontier Senior Vice President and General Manager for Connecticut.
“Frontier’s investment in the north end of Hartford is another example of how broadband providers are driving the innovations in speed and access that are critical to the success of Connecticut’s economy. Connecticut is fortunate to be able to offer nationally-ranked broadband service, through multiple private sector providers, to the state’s employers and residents,” said Oz Griebel, President and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance.
