OFC 2016, the world’s leading conference for optical communications and networking professionals, today announced its line-up of keynote speakers for the 2016 plenary session. On Tuesday, March 22, Yasuhiko Arakawa, University of Tokyo, Japan, Andre Fuetsch, AT&T, USA, and Daniel Kraft, Singularity University and IntelliMedicine, USA, will take the stage to highlight the latest developments in semiconductor nanotechnologies, optical network evolution and trends in data-driven intelligent medicine. OFC will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Anaheim, California, USA, 20-24 March 2016.
“This year’s OFC plenary speakers are thought-leaders in fiber optic components and networking,” said OFC general chair, Chris Doerr. "We will have exciting presentations on nano-optics, software-defined optical networking and the impact of next-generation optical technologies on biomedicine and healthcare."
Yasuhiko Arakawa, Director of Institute for Nano Quantum Information, Director of Nanoelectronics Collaborative Research Center, University of Tokyo, Japan
Yasuhiko Arakawa is a Professor at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Tokyo. He is the Director of the Institute for Nano Quantum Information, Director of the Nanoelectronics Collaborative Research Center at the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, Japan, as well as a Research Professor at NTT. His current research focuses on the growth and physics of semiconductor nanotechnologies for optoelectronic device applications such as quantum dot lasers and various nanostructure devices.
Andre Fuetsch, Senior Vice President of Architecture & Design, AT&T, USA
Andre Fuetsch is responsible for delivering the architecture and design of AT&T’s future networking evolution. This transformation will utilize software-defined networking and network function virtualization to deliver products and services to the customer with greatly reduced time to market and significant operational efficiencies. He leads a team of over 2,000 engineers and computer scientists working on programs encompassing both the business and mass market customer segments.
Daniel Kraft, Medicine & Neuroscience Chair, Singularity University and IntelliMedicine, USA
Daniel Kraft is a Stanford and Harvard trained physician-scientist, inventor, entrepreneur and innovator. Kraft has chaired the Medicine Track for Singularity University (SU) since SU’s inception, and is the Founder and Executive Director of Exponential Medicine, a program that explores convergent, rapidly developing technologies and their potential in biomedicine and healthcare. With over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, biomedical research and healthcare innovation, he recently founded IntelliMedicine, focused on enabling connected; data driven and integrated personalized medicine.
About OFC
The Optical Fiber Conference and Exposition (OFC) is the largest global conference and exposition for optical communications and networking professionals. For more than 40 years, OFC has drawn attendees from all corners of the globe to meet and greet, teach and learn, make connections and move business forward.
OFC includes dynamic business programming, an exposition of more than 550 companies, and high impact peer-reviewed research that, combined, showcase the trends and pulse of the entire optical networking and communications industry. OFC is managed by The Optical Society (OSA) and co-sponsored by OSA, the IEEE Communications Society (IEEE/ComSoc), and the IEEE Photonics Society. OFC 2016 will be held from 20-24 March 2016 at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, California, USA.
