MicroVision, Inc., a leader in innovative, ultra-miniature projection display technology, today announced it will be attending the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The company will be hosting meetings with consumer electronics Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to show new and exciting product concept devices to showcase the possibilities enabled by PicoP® display technology that excite consumers – offering a convenient and dynamic way to view media-rich content on the go. These devices integrate the latest generation of PicoP display technology, which enables a bright, high definition, always in focus image from a small form factor. The company will also feature display engines from its partners that highlight its award-winning PicoP display technology.
MicroVision recently conducted focus groups for mobile devices equipped with PicoP display technology. The participants, who represented a range of demographic profiles, were shown demonstrations with devices similar to those that will be featured by MicroVision at CES. The experience of enhanced viewing of movies, sports and social media images garnered extremely positive reactions, and participants were impressed with the image quality, convenience and ease of use that these PicoP-enabled devices demonstrated. The ability of PicoP display technology to create a big screen experience from a handheld, portable device that never required focusing was seen as a capability that would increase usage of mobile devices for video viewing.
MicroVision is engaged in discussions with targeted OEMs for bringing PicoP display technology to market in their products. Under its licensing business model, the company is also working with multiple partners with the goal of having supply sources for display engines based on PicoP display technology readily available for OEMs.
