Daylight Solutions Completes Deliveries of Solaris Quantum Cascade Laser-Based Systems to the U.S. Army

Daylight Solutions, Inc. announced today the company has completed all deliveries of their Solaris™ Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL)-based systems to the U.S. Army through its partner, Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Electronic Systems sector, in support of the U.S. Army’s CIRCM program.

Completing the laser deliveries on time, on budget, and fully compliant further validates Daylight’s leadership as the provider of QCL-based solutions to the Defense market for military applications.

“Daylight Solutions remains committed to both Northrop Grumman and the U.S. Government in its delivery of best in class laser systems for aircraft survivability and soldier protection,” said Dr. Timothy Day, CEO for Daylight Solutions. “Daylight continues to rapidly transition new technologies into ruggedized systems, providing enhanced capabilities for the warfighter.”

The CIRCM program is a Major Defense Acquisition Program that will develop the next generation of aircraft survivability equipment to defend aircraft against man portable air defense systems (MANPADS) and other heat seeking munitions. According to the U.S. Army, CIRCM will “provide the sole acquisition of future laser-based countermeasure systems for all rotary-wing, tilt-rotor, and small fixed wing aircraft across the Department of Defense.”

Daylight Solutions and its wholly owned subsidiary Daylight Defense, LLC, have leveraged their core technology in QCL modules to create multiple versions of its JammIR™ line of products. The company’s modular approach allows for high flexibility, reducing the cycle-time from design to deployment, while providing significant improvements in reliability and lifetime over existing technologies.

Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in Directional Infrared Countermeasures systems with IRCM installations on over 800 aircraft, including large and small fixed-wing, rotary-wing and tilt-wing platforms.
