AOptix, a technology innovation company that applies optics to transform identity verification and wireless communications, today announced that it has reorganized the company into two business units: Identity Solutions and Communications. This news follows the recent announcement from AOptix that it has closed a $42 million Series E round of funding.
The formation of the business units occurs at a time when the company is experiencing explosive growth in each of its two core businesses. The new organizational structure will enable executives to focus on the strategic business drivers of each area and ensure optimal service for AOptix customers and partners globally. The Identity Solutions business includes identity verification products deployed at some of the world’s busiest airports and border crossings, as well as the new Smart Mobile Identity product platform. The Communications business unit is developing ultra-high bandwidth, long range wireless communications technologies for enterprises, government agencies, and network service providers.
AOptix has appointed seasoned executives to lead the company’s two newly formed business units, reporting to the CEO. Chuck Yort has been named the company’s Vice President and General Manager of the Identity Solutions business unit. Yort brings extensive general management experience with particular expertise in mobile markets and applications built through his roles as Vice President and General Manager of B2B Solutions at Plantronics and Vice President, General Manager, Business & Government, at Palm Inc. Additionally, Yort has held management positions at startups such as Venturi Wireless and Polyfuel, as well as tech industry leaders such as 3COM and HP.
Newly promoted to the role of Vice President and General Manager of the Communications business unit, Dr. Chandrasekhar Pusarla has served as AOptix’ VP of Engineering for more than five years. Dr. Pusarla brings deep experience in the networking and telecommunication industries, including extensive involvement with carriers and service providers. Prior to AOptix, Dr. Pursula held executive and management positions at Calient Networks, Corning Inc. and Tyco International.
The appointments prime AOptix for strong growth across its core businesses, both of which are preparing for major product launches. “The appointment of Chuck and Chandrasekhar marks an important milestone in our company’s evolution as we formally establish two business units,” said Dean Senner, Chairman and CEO of AOptix. “These two executives have exactly the strategic and operational skill sets we need to drive global market leadership for our existing products, as well as develop and commercialize new products, in their respective areas. With their addition to our executive team, AOptix has the skills and experience to deliver on our company’s mission of keeping people safe and connected.”
