The IDS camera has a modern e2v 1.3 MP CMOS sensor. The sensor can be adopted according to the requirements for various applications. It features four shutter modes and is touted to be the first sensor to offer these modes and the facility to switch between modes. The IDS camera features flash I/Os, two GPIOs and an optically decoupled trigger. At a full resolution of 1280 x 1024 p, it delivers 25 fps.

IDS offers an advanced software suite that enables the camera to be easily installed, configured and managed. The uEye Cockpit tool, which is a well accepted software, is a part of the software suite.

The new IDS camera has a magnesium casing that enables a sturdy design. The casing is compact and has a low weight, thus allowing it to be used for applications where space plays an important role. The camera can be used in harsh industrial environments due to its robust casing. It also features Hirose and USB connectors that are lockable.

IDS, founded in 1997, is a global medical and machine vision company. It has a subsidiary in the USA and distributors in European and Asian countries. IDS informed that globally it has supplied more than 180,000 USB and GigE uEye cameras, and 250,000 IDS frame grabbers.
