U.S. Army Chooses L-3 Integrated Optical Systems for Sniper Scope Technology Development

L-3 Integrated Optical Systems recently declared that the U.S. Army has selected the company for Integrated Ballistic Reticle System (IBRS) development program. Designed to function as a sniper, the IBRS is a validated marksman sight for broad ranges.

By using IBRS sight, snipers can attain the targets more rapidly and precisely. In addition, a digital ballistic fire control solution also aids in projecting an electronic reticle in the directed line of sight. The IBRS eliminates the need for manual adjustments. Compared to other existing sniper solutions, IBRS ensures rapid engagement and higher precision.

According to the VP and General Manager of Pittsburgh’s L-3 Integrated Optical Systems, Dave Wessing, the upgraded sniper sights will ensure extensive operation ranges besides reducing the need for training. The U.S. Army’s dynamic commitment to the IBRS program will improve the effectiveness and potentiality of snipers and designated marksmen for broad ranges.

L-3 Integrated Optical Systems provides massive electro-optical products applicable in ground, space, air, and sea. L-3’s line of products feature fire control solutions, a complete array of stabilized platforms, large diameter telescopes, beam directors and laser communications terminals, precision optics, space-based and airborne optical systems, ground test equipment and integrated optical sights.

L-3 is based in NYC and operates efficiently with 61,000 global employees. It serves as a major contractor in C3ISR (Command, Communications, Control, Surveillance and Reconnaissance and Intelligence) systems, government services and in aircraft modernization and maintenance. L-3 is known for delivering a variety of electronic systems for use in military and commercial platforms.
