GigOptix, a supplier of optical components and semiconductor, has declared that its GX6255, a surface-mounted 8Vpp Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM) single ended driver, is now being produced in large scale.
Designed for application in both the 100G DP-QPSK and 40G RZ-DQPSK metro and long haul transponders, this novel driver has achieved orders from the Asian Tier-1 Telecom customers.
GigOptix's GX6255 is a compact, low-power, yet high performance Surface Mounted Technology (SMT) MZM driver. It can power 8Vpp at up to 32 Gb/s. The GX6255 utilizes up to 1.6 W power with 7.5 Vpp output. The device has been devised in such a way that it can optimize with industry standard single drive 40G RZ-DQPSK and 100G DP-QPSK modulators, in compliance with all the telecom qualification spec requirements. Ovum, in one of the latest market reports, stated that the 100G market has been predicted to grow by 107% CAGR and 40G market showing over 40% CAGR.
According to the General Manager and Vice President of the Optics Product Line at GigOptix, Dr. Raluca Dinu, the company is happy to increase the mass production of its latest GX6255 (40G and 100G) driver. The consumer demand for additional bandwidths across the network is increasing following the launch of cloud computing, along with tablets and smartphones applications. However, the company’s development strategy is responsible for promoting its reputation among the communications markets. The new driver complements the company’s extensive driver portfolio. By integrating the vast TFPS modulator solution and dual channel Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIA), GigOptix can furnish its customers with excellent 40G and 100G component solutions.
