MagnaChip Semiconductor, a designer and producer of mixed- and analog-signal semiconductor products, has introduced 4-channel LED backlight driver, MAP3105 for applications in notebook computers and 6-channel LED backlight driver, MAP3106 for applications in tablet PCs.
The MAP3105 measuring 3 x 3 mm is available in a TQFN-16L package. The input voltage of this 4-channel LED driver ranges between 4 and 26 V. It features an integrated MOSFET to increase output voltage to as high as 45 V, with 500 KHz to 2 MHz of switching frequencies. It optimizes LED brightness by augmenting the input current per channel to up to 40 mA, while reducing current matching to below 2% per channel.
The MAP3106 measuring 4 x 4 mm is available in a QFN package. The input voltage of this 6-channel LED driver ranges between 5 and 24 V. It has an integrated MOSFET to increase output voltage to as high as 40 V, with 30 KHz to 1 MHz of switching frequencies.
The built-in safety functions of the LED drivers, including open Schottky diode protection, over voltage protection, LED short/open protection and current overload protection, have improved their safety and operating efficiency.
The Executive Vice President at the Power Solutions Division of MagnaChip Semiconductor, H.K. Kim stated that the company has expanded its family of LED drivers for tablet PCs and notebooks with the introduction of the completely integrated 6-channel and 4-channel LED backlight drivers.
