Avago Technologies has introduced MiniPOD and MicroPOD embedded interconnects in order to develop connectivity solutions that support cloud computing and virtual server applications.
Avago Technologies, a primary provider of analog interface elements for communications, industrial and consumer applications, unveils its parallel optical fiber technology that ensures high-bandwidth for emerging high-performance computing (HPC) applications at the SC11 supercomputing conference in order to launch its small footprint MicroPOD™ and MiniPOD™ embedded parallel optical transmitter and receiver modules. A joint-demonstration with PLX Technology exposes the PCI Express (PCIe) Gen3 end-to-end fiber optic link with Avago MiniPOD linking a PC to an I/O expansion. This technology provides industry density and bandwidth with inward box designs, void of EMI/RFI shielding. It also provides twelve transmit or receive channels.
By influencing its core competencies in III-V compound and silicon semiconductor design and processing, the company offers a wide range of analog, mixed signal and optoelectronics components and subsystems to almost forty thousand end customers. Supported by strong customer service , the company's products serve four sectors such as wired infrastructure, wireless communications, industrial and automotive electronics, and consumer and computing peripherals.
