A high-capacity metro and long-haul fiber network provider for data and voice communications, First Communications has announced that it is expanding its 5,400 mile long fiber route network spanning the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest United States to deploy low-latency route to Toronto.
The fiber lighting route network between Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh is a significant milestone in First Communications' delivery of the low-latency optical fiber route from Chicago to Ashburn, Va. / Washington, D.C., thus providing internet service providers, telecommunication carriers, government entities and financial enterprises with added transport options beyond the existing low-latency routes of First Communications, including northern New Jersey / New York to Toronto and up to Chicago.
Another route deployed by First Communications and added to the existing optical network runs between Reading, Philadelphia, Lancaster and Harrisburg in the eastern state of Pennsylvania. The newer markets will not be able to connect easily to the larger markets in Ashburn, Va./ Washington, D.C., Newark, New York, Pittsburg, Chicago, Toronto and the data & financial centers of northern New Jersey.
The President of First Telecom Services, Rick Poore explained that deploying the low-latency lit network is a vital component in the expansion of First Communications’ fiber services, which connects high-demand markets to under-serviced, smaller markets and fulfills the high-bandwidth requirements of government, financial sectors and service providers.
