NextWindow Introduces Optical Touch Screen for Large Hardware Applications

NextWindow, a provider of touch-screen components and optical touch panels to manufacturers of electronic products, has introduced the new ProfileTouch 2S touch screen for large screen hardware applications.

NextWindow ProfileTouch 2S

The SMART Technologies’ subsidiary, NextWindow, is offering the ProfileTouch 2S touch screen in sizes ranging from 32" to 72". The product is designed for applications in education, corporate and retail environments and for manufacturers of original equipment. It is ideal for use in shopping malls, tourist destinations and restaurants due to its large size.

The ProfileTouch 2S features a low profile and thin borders that allows it to be easily integrated with different types of hardware applications. It has the capability to identify common gestures, including tap, press-and-tap, rotate and zoom. The touch screen supports multiple operating systems that include Linux, Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac OS X. It offers plug-and-play capability and does not need software drivers, which allows easy integration with many products.

NextWindow is offering the ProfileTouch 2S in a fully assembled condition and as a component kit. The fully assembled screen includes glass, while the component kit does not. This facility reduces the inventory risk and shipping costs for touch screen component kits. These kits include a controller board, passive border and optical sensors that can be assembled on glass substrate material. The passive border can be cut to desired sizes so as to suit custom displays.
