North Georgia Network (NGN) has chosen Infinera, an optical networking device powered by photonic integrated circuits, for a broadband stimulus network that will be set up from North Carolina to Atlanta.
The Infinera Digital Optical Network supports unique capabilities such as GMPLS-powered service intelligence, integrated digital bandwidth management and high-capacity DWDM transport, all in a single platform
The key advantages offered by the Infinera DTN include simple operation, high speed, and scalability that prompted NGN to select the same for sustaining its open access business model. With the Infinera DTN network, the company will offer a variety of services, including over a Terabit/second of capacity at a fast pace, thereby maintaining low operating expenses.
NGN, along with North Georgia College & State University, announced at the 2011 Economic Development and Technology Summit that it has planned to begin the construction work shortly.
The Infinera DTN network will provide affordable, high speed and scalable broadband services to numerous homes, businesses and local institutions situated in the rural parts of North Georgia.
