Turnkey energy-saving solutions provider, SmartWatt Energy has replaced the existing lighting system at United States Cold Storage (USCS)’s cold storage distribution center in Tracy, California, with Albeo Technologies’ energy-saving LED lighting.
In order to reduce energy expenditure for USCS, SmartWatt Energy conducted a comprehensive energy audit at the facility and recommended to replace the existing lighting with Albeo LED lighting retrofit.
The new Albeo LED lighting retrofit will reduce power consumption of the USCS facility by 541,000 kWh per annum. As part of its turnkey services, SmartWatt Energy also arranged EPAct 2005 tax deduction of $117,619 and a PG&E utility incentive of $69,222. The energy-conserving project is a clean and green project as it will eliminate air pollutants and amount to planting of 83 acres of trees.
The Project Engineer at USCS, Danny Dietrich stated that the company carried out a comprehensive IRR analysis of numerous energy-conserving choices such as solar and wind, but the return on investment for those projects proved to be long. The IRR of Albeo LED lighting retrofit project was 35.2% and the payback period was 1.6 years, he said.
