Sanyo has rolled out a new interactive WXGA short-throw projector called the PLC-WL2503 that allows users to interact with focused image on any type of surface. The projector includes a short-throw lens that produces an 80" projected image from 34" distance.
The PLC-WL2503 weighs 10.4 pounds and measures 13.8 × 5.7 ×15’’ in dimensions. It removes the necessity of a whiteboard linked to a personal computer by offering two interface devices, namely, a point and a pen with an IR transmitter. While pressing the tip of the devices against the wall surface or screen, the projector produces an IR signal, which is identified by a camera module mounted on its front surface. The signal enables the projector to find the tip’s relative location on the projected image. Finally, the information is sent to the computer via a USB connection for displaying it on the screen.
The Wide XGA format offers a resolution of 1,280 × 800 with an aspect ratio of 16:10, enabling the display of HD resolution images. The HDMI 1.3 input of the projector allows users to link the system to DVD players and HD sources. In addition, the PLC-WL2503 offers special modes for color board and blackboard surfaces when it is utilized with a surface except a traditional screen.
