Developer of digital power supply control ICs, iWatt has rolled out two AC/DC Digital PWM Controllers that are suitable for 100 V and 230 V AC offline LED lighting applications.
The iW3612 and the iW3602 PWM Controllers are designed for non-isolated or isolated LED drivers hat are utilized in incandescent lamps. The LED driver ICs feature hot-plug support that enables users to switch the LED engine without recycling the LED driver’s input power. The driver ICs have a number of unique features that assure power efficiency, durability, flicker-free compatibility and reduced components expenditures.
The iW3612 and the iW3602 LED driver ICs have intelligent digital algorithms that automatically identify various kinds of dimmers such as trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmers. They enable high-quality dimming from 1% to 100% with LED current regulation of ± 5%.
The AC/DC power conversion ICs feature control loop versus analog as well as digital feedback technologies that eradicate components to decrease bill of materials and driver size, simplifies printed circuit board (PCB) design, and optimizes efficacy. The primary-side-control technology eradicates the secondary-side control circuit and opto-coupler that are utilized in conventional flyback designs.
The ICs inbuilt quasi-resonant and frequency jitter switching technology decreases EMI and enhances thermal management. The high switching frequency allows designers to utilize small transformers and capacitors to optimize space. The ICs are available in a thermally-enhanced, cost-efficient SO-8 package. An exposed pad is available that enables junction-to-PCB thermal resistance for enhanced reliability.
