GAO Comm, provider of communication test devices, has introduced a 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X fiber-optic converter that allows cost-effective and swift conversion of copper to optical fiber connections.
The converter extends the connecting distance between the two Gigabit Ethernet units through fiber cable without degrading the performance. It is suitable for CWDM, Bi-Di, long reach single mode fibers and short reach multimode fiber applications.
The 1000Base-T to 1000Base-X converter has plug-and-play capability and consumes minimum power. It carries out transparent conversion and full wire speed conversion of packet types without any limitation in packet length. The device complies with RoHS and IEEE802.3z specifications and is also backward compatible with 10/100M, 100M and 10M units. An auto negotiation protocol is carried out for configuring full and half duplex mode.
The converter’s data transmission rate in full-duplex mode is 2000 Mbps. The device can also be center chassis or Din-Rail mounted. LED indicators offer diagnostic data namely duplex mode, link status, port activity and availability of power.
