IDS Imaging Development Systems Releases New, Improved Global Shutter CMOS Cameras

IDS Imaging Development Systems has announced a new driver update for the 1.3 MP global shutter CMOS cameras. With the addition of this update, the cameras can include two new functions.

Global Shutter Cameras

The area-scan cameras can work in multiple area-of-interest (AOI) mode for a maximum of four AOIs and can also work in line-scan mode. These features allow line-by-line capture of images with 1280 pixel complete horizontal resolution at a maximum of 64 kHz. After installing the updated driver version 3.80, the new features will be available to cameras with a Gigabit Ethernet or USB connection.

The global shutter CMOS cameras include e2v’s 1.3 MP sensors and integrate the benefits of the CCD technology and the CMOS sensor. The CCD technology offers a number of advantages such as quick frame rate at a maximum of 60 fps, increased color fidelity and light sensitivity. The global shutter of the sensor makes it ideal for applications with moving things. In addition, the shutter comes in color and monochrome versions.
