Renesas Electronics America Launches R2A20134 LED Driver IC

Semiconductor solution provider, Renesas Electronics America has unveiled a new LED driver IC for LED lighting applications. The R2A20134 LED driver IC offers increased power factor and high efficiency. It is also suitable for TRIAC dimmer applications.

The R2A20134 LED driver IC features a unique step-down control technology that offers increased line-to-ground voltage. The driver IC reduces system cost and can choose MOSFETs that have minimal voltage.

The critical-conduction mode and high-voltage control of the R2A20134 allow switching in a minimal drain-source voltage state and zero-current switching at the turn-on state. Furthermore, the critical-conduction mode enables power factor correction control with reduced number of external components. The device delivers 92% power factor by minimizing the power loss during switching and achieves more than 0.9 power factor.

The elements, which are connected externally, can be configured to achieve various control modes such as constant-input-power control, peak-current control, average-current control as well as buck-boost control.
