4D Technology Unveils Extended Precision Package for PhaseCam 6000 Laser Interferometer

4D Technology, developer of optical metrology devices, announced that it has introduced a new Extended Precision Package (EPP) that offers over 2X enhancement in optical surface measurement precision in the PhaseCam 6000 Dynamic Laser Interferometer.

PhaseCam 6000 Laser Interferometer

Extended precision metrology is vital for managing the optics polishing procedures such as Magnetorheological Finishing and ion beam etching. These methods have the ability to generate features with high spatial frequency than conventional polishing techniques. The precision metrology utilized for validating the polishing must exhibit high precision in these frequencies. The PhaseCam 6000’s EPP option meets this requirement by extending the precision by over 4X in the spatial range frequency.

The PhaseCam 6000 laser interferometer is lightweight, compact and uses Dynamic Interferometry to make surface measurements. The laser interferometer, with motorized controls and a fiber-coupled measurement head, is suitable for on-machine metrology and other adverse environments. It is ideal for measuring moving components and for verifying optical systems.

The EPP, featuring a 5 m fiber and an electronics/optics device, significantly enhances the throughput and quality for optics manufacturers.
