North Yorkshire to Benefit from BT’s Fiber-Optic Broadband Service

BT, provider of fiber-optic broadband services, announced that the North Yorkshire County will be the latest region to benefit from the company’s fiber-optic broadband deployments. The broadband rollout is a part of the company’s £2.5 billion high-speed broadband project.

The Yorkshire Post newspaper reported that the fiber-optic deployment would benefit 46,000 residents and businesses in the towns of Harrogate and York. The newspaper added that York is one of the top cities in the UK in providing broadband coverage.

York Council’s leader, Andrew Waller stated that an enhanced broadband coverage is necessary to encourage businesses in the science and technology sector. He commented that upgraded internet connections are crucial if the town is to be regarded as a science city in the coming years.

BT also recently announced that nearly 20,000 properties in Kenilworth and Warwick would be upgraded to the optical fiber broadband services.
