BT announced that it has started providing fiber-optic broadband services to Harrogate, a town located in North Yorkshire County. Residences in Harrogate will now have the opportunity to utilize the broadband technology that provides maximum download speeds of 40 Mb/s. The download speed is likely to be increased to 60 Mb/s in the future.
When the fiber-optic deployments are completed, nearly 33,500 houses and businesses in the region will obtain access to the BT’s ultrafast broadband services. Deployment of the broadband services in North Yorkshire is part of the company’s deployment of broadband services throughout the country. BT stated that the fiber-optic installation in UK is a very large investment and does not depend on public sector funding.
Nearly 90,000 properties in the New Cross, Skyport, Mile End, Merton Park, and Parsons Green communities in London will gain access to the broadband services in the near future.
