Amulet Technologies announced that it has introduced a new TFT/OLED LCD display driver board that supports displays having a resolution of 800x600 pixels. According to the company, the GEMexpress II (GCC-2) display driver board extends the GEMexpress product series that provides a quick and easy solution for including a GUI into an embedded device.
The GCC-2 driver board is equipped with similar features like the GEMexpress driver board and also features a 64 MB serial flash that doubles the storage capability. Increased storage capacity helps in storing more GUI pages. It also has a 256 MB SDRAM that increases the amount of memory by four times. Increased memory delivers improved performance in high-resolution OLED or TFT displays.
The GEM Graphical OS Chip from Amulet has a six-layer PCB board for color displays. The PCB board measures 1.5"x3.0" and is useful for supporting the GEM Graphical OS Chip. The Graphical OS Chip incorporates a Graphical Operating System, an ARM7 processor, a touch panel decoder, and a LCD controller. The graphical operating system manages the overall user interface to off-load the GUI from the processor.
The GUI can be easily programmed by using the GEMstudio, a user interface design tool from Amulet.
Amulet Technologies’ Sales Director, Jim Todd stated that designers can reduce costs and save time by using the GEMexpress products because they decrease the requirement for complex board designs.
