Viewqwest Selects Zhone’s Gigabit Passive Optical Network Systems

Singapore-based internet service provider, Viewqwest has selected Zhone Technologies’ zNID optical network terminals and MXK multi-service access node (MSAN) system to enable its Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON). Zhone Technologies specializes in IP multi-service access solutions.

Connect Network, a Zhone partner, will offer enhanced connectivity to Viewqwest’s clients across Singapore. Viewqwest required a high-density and scalable GPON solution and found that the MXK offered a suitable solution.

The use of the MXK platform will enable Viewqwest to minimize the number of sites and simultaneously reduce costs. The MXK platform is a terabit access concentrator and a redundant all-IP platform with a non-blocking capacity of 360 1G Active Ethernet subscribers or a maximum of 3,600 100 Mbps GPON subscribers.

The Zhone MXK system provides multi-access points at high capacities and integrates extra broadband technologies such as 10 G GPON. In addition, the MXK supports GPON and Active Ethernet on the same system, and this capability allows Viewqwest to configure the networks with optimum efficiency and flexibility.
