austriamicrosystems Rolls Out 4-Channel LED Driver IC for LCD TVs

Manufacturer of advanced analog IC products, austriamicrosystems has released a new 4-channel LED driver IC, AS3696 that delivers bright and excellent video images. The AS3696 is suitable for edge lighting in LCD TVs and incorporates a unique control mechanism for 3D effects.

The AS3696 is a precision LED controller that includes internal PWM generators and PWM inputs with a +/-1 % channel-to-channel accuracy. The LED driver IC expands the company’s portfolio of LED BLU driver series for advanced LCD TVs.

The BLU driver IC is specifically developed to drive the external FETs used in LCD backlight panels and enables high currents and lengthy LED strings in 3D mode. The device has the precision and capability to streamline the development of LED drivers using safety features and on-chip shunt regulator, including short and open LED detection; and thermal shutdown. The driver IC also offers a power feedback regulation feature to control external power supplies, minimize power and attain high efficiency in LED backlit LCD televisions.
