Megladon Introduces HLC Connection-Enabled SM Fiber Optic Couplers

Megladon Manufacturing Group, a company specializing in fiber-optic equipment, has rolled out a new line of SM fiber optic couplers or splitters that are customizable for a wide range of lengths and split ratios.

Fiber Optic Couplers-Splitters

The fiber-optic devices use HLC connections and bend insensitive singlemode glass, and are suitable for all standard connector packages and types.

The HLC SCRATCHGUARD connection technology of Megladon allows business applications to function with less connectivity issues, and offers repeatable performance, as well as, durability. The linking of the HLC connection with the bend insensitive glass, reduces endface contamination or scratching, optical return loss, insertion loss, and bend loss. These issues are encountered during the operation of fiber-optic networks.

Bend loss accumulation at a number of points over a link results in issues associated with power budget. The solution to these issues is to switch to bend insensitive fiber, as this fiber reduces the overall loss and bend loss.
