ATMI, Lake LED Materials Collaborate for LED Material Production

Provider of semiconductor materials, ATMI has bought a minority interest in a South Korea-based company, Lake LED Materials. Lake LED Materials primarily focuses on supplying metal organic precursors to the LED industry.

The agreement allows ATMI to speed up the commercial launch of LED materials with select technology and marketing rights. This partnership reinforces the technical expertise of ATMI in the process materials used in LED applications along with Lake LED Materials’ technology. The collaboration marks the first initiative by ATMI to address the process efficiency opportunities available in the LED market.

The Executive Vice President of Business Development at ATMI, Dan Sharkey stated that LEDs are the future of the lighting industry for home and business lighting, personal electronics and TVs. He added that the collaboration with Lake LED Materials would allow ATMI to progress in the LED industry.

Lake LED Materials’ CEO, President and Chairman, Jin-dong Kim remarked that ATMI investment supports the company’s expansions in production and research and development areas.
