Provider of fiber optic measurement and test instruments, GAO Fiber Optics has launched a new 6416 optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR). The OTDR comes with a built-in TFT LCD screen and is ideal for maintenance, construction and production of fiber optic communication systems.
The 6416 OTDR locates the optical fiber’s faults and determines the physical characteristics such as splice loss, transmission loss and length of the fiber. In addition, the portable OTDR conducts visible fault location (VFL), and is useful in testing Fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) network.
The reflectometer offers 65535 sampling points, a 0.25 m high resolution, a 1.6m short event dead zone, and has a long operating time of over 10 h on a single charge. The OTDR provides 800 traces of memory capacity and a distance range of up to 256 km.
The optical time-domain reflectometer provides optional wavelengths such as 1490, 1625, 1550 and 1310 nm at ±20nm accuracy. The OTDR offers dual USB interfaces that support USB stick as well as direct cable downloads to a PC through ActiveSync. The reflectometer also supports Bellcore GR196 file format to manage files.
