GAO Fiber Optics Unveils New 6416 Optical Time Domain Reflectometer

GAO Fiber Optics has released a new, advanced optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR), which is specifically developed for producing and maintaining the fiber optic communication devices.

GAO OTDR

The 6416 hand-held reflectometer can be used for measuring the physical properties of optical fibers such as splice loss and transmission loss. The device can detect any breaks or faults in the optical fiber, and is particularly useful for testing Fiber-to-the-x networks.

The OTDR is lightweight and features 0.25 m resolution and 65535 sampling points. It provides optional waveforms of 1490, 1625, 1550 and 1310 nm and can be operated continuously for more than 10 h.

The OTDR has a TFT LCD screen that displays the results clearly, and offers dual USB interfaces that support direct download and USB stick to a PC through ActiveSync. It supports the Bellcore GR196 file format, which facilitates file management.
