Enablence Technologies, a fiber-to-the-home device vendor, has installed an optical access network in the Riba-Roja d'Ebre municipality of Spain.
The Riba-Roja d'Ebre is located between Zaragoza and Barcelona. The company stated that the optical network will encourage economic growth in the Riba-Roja d'Ebre municipality.
Enablence mentioned that Riba-Roja d'Ebre, with a population of over 1,000 people, wanted to upgrade its previously-installed CATV infrastructure to deploy sophisticated voice, data and video services. The municipality chose the fiber-to-the-home and business (FTTx) as it would be beneficial and economical to the community.
Riba-Roja d'Ebre will offer 10 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth for its customers in the first phase of the network installation. The municipality, in addition to deploying data and video services, will also develop an industrial park and utilize the high-bandwidth capacity provided by the fiber network.
Enablence stated that the municipality utilizes the element management system software, ONTs, and the TRIDENT7 Universal Access Platform. The Riba-Roja d'Ebre network was designed, constructed and implemented by TFO using Enablence’s devices. Other important companies involved in the project were apfutura, Servitet and Alpha Enginyeria.
