Enablence Signs JV Agreement with Sunsea Telecommunications

China-based company, Sunsea Telecommunications has signed an agreement with Enablence Technologies to establish a new joint venture called ‘Sunsea-Enablence Optoelectronics’.

Enablence Technologies offers optical subsystems and components for long haul, metro and access markets, as well as fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solutions for triple-play business and residential services. Sunsea manufactures physical telecommunications network solutions for China.

The joint venture will enable Optical Components and Subsystems Division of Enablence to meet the demand for broadband telecommunications equipment in China. Sunsea-Enablence Optoelectronics will be set up in Foshan, China and the business operations will begin from July 2011.

Sunsea-Enablence Optoelectronics will manufacture components based on the PLC platform from Enablence in large numbers. In addition, the company will manufacture PLC-based transceivers and modules. Sunsea and Enablence expect Sunsea-Enablence Optoelectronics would create revenues of about $8 to $10 million and later generate around $15 to $20 million revenues during the second year of the joint venture’s business operation.
